If there is bigger evidence that there needs to be a playoff than last night I haven't seen it. Oregon, who's one loss came to a team that will end up in the top 5 and destroyed the #5 team / Big 12 Champ KSU, got no shot at the title. Alabama, while great, lost to a 2 loss team at home. I'm not saying they weren't deserving I'm simply saying that they are no more deserving at the shot at the title than Oregon. Alabama however has the built in media advantage and will ALWAYS get the nod over anybody else. I'm in favor of an eight team playoff but even a four team would have produced an Oregon/Alabama game more than likely. ND had no business playing for a NC last night.

I honestly preferred the old method of bowls over this one b/c only a few teams even pretended "national championships" were legitimate. Now, most of the world thinks this method is legitimate, but as you've pointed out, it's really not much better.
It should be an 8 team playoff with all the playoff games as home games until the championship. An 8 game setup with all neutral sites will eventually be an attendance disaster.
