I wouldn't read too much into it at this point. I'm pretty sure we've had a few others tweet or post similar things (including Taylor). I think he ultimately transfers, but I wouldn't think it has as much to do with this rant or this time of the season as it will with his post-season interview when Self explains that Frankamp, Greene, Selden, and Mason are all better than he is.
Rio backpedaled on these comments pretty quickly and tried to make it look like he was bitching about something else... he most recently posted a picture of him and Wesley on instagram... so what ever was eating him earlier, he seems to have gotten past it.
I would think he had a bad practice today where one of the coaches got on him pretty hard and maybe got a little butthurt.
If he improves as much as Tharpe did from this season to next he will get some minutes, but I see him behind Tharpe and Mason next year. If he can stick it out until his Jr and Sr years he might actually get some meaningful minutes.
Keeping with the tweet-driven nature of the thread, from Rustin Dodd:
Maybe beside the point now: Self said he was aware of Rio's tweets: "They weren't the best in the world, but they also weren't the worst."
(cont.) Self said he didn't want it to be overblown: "He needs to mature and grow up a little bit, and this will be a great teaching moment"

i'll be pretty surprised if he's back.
He's already last on the depth chart for next year, so he needs to transfer in order to get minutes. I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up back at a Washington school or one of the Oregons.
That's the same feeling I have. I don't remember what offers he had, and the list was strange because of people thinking he wouldn't qualify, but he has "transferring back to the PNW or MWC" written all over him to me.
I was criticized pretty harshly on TFS for stating that I didn't think Rio possessed the emotional maturity to deal with life as a Kansas basketball player who was always going to be on the wrong end of the depth chart this year, but I think this result was almost inevitable. People compare his Twitter outbursts to Tyshawn's, but Rio's are much more frequent and his place in our team means that Self isn't going to give him the leeway to speak his mind. There's an exception to every rule, but its just very rare for an unranked late signing to stick more than two years, much less make a difference under Self.
I think as long as they represent well Self is going to let them share on twitter... it's become part of our culture. especially for kids... but the stuff rio was throwing out there has to be curtailed and there has to be some kind of discipline for basically throwing a fit publicly.
I was a dumb kid at one point and to have someone yelling at me I might have rected far worse than Adams did.
