He beat Wiggins and Huntington and won MVP of the event.

Hopefully Jerry can drop by, but in the meantime, here's what I know.

It was the Beast Athletic Shootout in Florida. Embiid was MVP. The all-tourny team was Andrew Wiggins, Mitchell Wilbekin,
Delano Spencer, Dominic Woodson, and Deshaun Mormon. Wiggins' Huntington Prep is generally seen as top 10 nationally. I have not seen Embiid's The Rock school in rankings, but don't know enough about the school or the rankings to know if they're eligible.

Embiid is soaring in the rankings and seen as a fairly raw, NBA body with a great chance to start at some point next season. Look at the rotation, even with Randle -- Lucas, Perry, Randle, Embiid.

I think we'll see Greene starting by the time they start league play.

After seeing how poorly Tharpe has played the past two games I sure hope Mason is as good as Aaronmakes him out to be.

That's a tough call on Frankcamp, but it will all depend on how he plays. White and Adams aren't getting minutes because they're just not playing very good. I know there's been a lot of talk about Adams not working out as a jayhawk, but I could easily see White moving on to somewhere where he can get playing time too. He hasn't really shown much this season, he's supposed to be a sharp shooter, but he doesn't hit the shot when he's open, and he hasn't shown he can create his own shot either.

The thing about Mason is this...Jerry and I (and I think BHam, too) think 2 important things. First, he's underrated by all the recruiting services other than ours, and Jerry is more afraid he has him too low than too high even though we already have him higher than anyone else. Second, he's the perfect fit for the role we need him to play: he's a good defender, he's tough, he's good with the ball, and he's a leader who can initiate offense without needing to score. Basically, he's a heckuva lot like what Russell Robinson was in 2006-2008.

Is he's going to be an All American? No. Is he even going to be all conference? No. But, I think he's going to fit in extremely well with what we need him to do: distribute the ball to the extraordinary shooters we're surrounding him with, play tough defense, and be an alpha dog leader when we need him to be.

Man, my reading comprehension is going down because Lucas isn't a safe bet to do anything other than absorb some fouls. I'd say the "safe" bet is Ellis and Embiid, with a better shot at Traylor than Lucas.

Good point about White. The problem, though, is that then puts in effectively in the same class with three other wings who are just better than he is (though at least one of them will likely leave early).

Wiggins team is very good. Great win for Embiid's team. I'd put over/under on Embiid being at Kansas at 2 years. This win and MVP doesn't change anything I think about Embiid, just validates it.

Unless Landen Lucas drastically improved this year, Kansas doesn't want him in the starting line up. Some desperate recruiting for numbers at the end in that recruiting class.

I was shocked when Kansas pursued Lucas.

I think Embiid likely isn't ready day 1 but starts day 1 by default because no one is any better.
