Cumro's Corner: Kansas @ OSU

Since finding their backs against the wall 9 days ago, the Jayhawks have performed admirably at home. Will this newfound confidence carry over to the biggest remaining matchup

  • I'll be at this game and rooting hard, but I don't have much confidence in the Hawks coming away with a win in Stillwater. OSU is playing very well right now, and for KU to get this road win they will have to bring their best game offensively. An inefficient offensive performance won't work. KU looked good against Texas but the game should have been over at half time. Way too many missed lay ups. Against a good team like OSU if you don't put them away when you have a chance it will bite you.

Marcus Smart is going to get his. There is no one on KU's team that can stop him, but stopping Brown and Nash will determine the outcome of the game I believe.

  • EJ is the key IMO. He needs to take care of the ball and somehow get his shot back. I don't see us winning unless we can say after the game that it appears EJ is out of his funk. Playing against Smart I know that will be tough. It would also help for BMac to not be as careless with the ball as he was in the last Okie St. game.

  • I'm way more worried about defense and defensive rebounding than I am about offense. Offense may be the problem, but it's a problem every time we play, and yet we find a way to win most nights. What I don't know is how we slow Smart and how we keep any of them off the glass on their missed shots. The reason we lost to them the first time was because after we climbed back in the game, and even took the lead, we couldn't manage to collect the defensive rebounds when we had to.

And it was also a big issue against Texas, but Texas is awful and couldn't take advantage. Defensive rebounds are a real issue for this team right now. It's all about positioning, blocking out, and desire. All things that should be correctable.

You'd think so, but Matt and I talked at the beginning of the year about whether we'd miss TRob more for his scoring or his rebounding, and I would honestly say his rebounding is more sorely missed than is his scoring at this point (and has been for most of the season).

  • I know I said that I think OSU wins this game earlier in the thread but after a couple of days I think this team mans up and beats OSU in Stillwater. I'm just having a hard time seeing OSU sweeping Kansas. That just doesn't happen to Self and Company. My revised thought is that KU comes out and smacks them in the mouth and leaves OSU/fans not knowing what hit them. Gut feeling.

    KU 81
    OSU 67
