I think Julius Randle is a more stable, talented version of Terrance Jones (of UK).
Wiggins always struck me as a more athletic, less physical, better shooting Andre Igoudala.
On Twitter, Jerry compared Selden to Jamont Gordon and Frankamp to a poor man's a Mark Price.
I guess I don't remember Mark Price in his prime, but Conner's a far more explosive athlete than I remember Mark Price being.
FWIW, I continued the conversation with Jerry and the best comparison is Lee Humphrey from UF in the late 90s early 2000s. Excellent ballhandler in high school (per Jerry) and absolutely lethal shooter in college.
That makes more sense to me. I'm not sold on the "Frankamp as a great ballhandler" mantra that's started to seep into things. I think he'll be adequate, but I see a lot of similarities between his style and Kirk Hinrich's. He's not a great comp for Kirk, but I see the toughness and adequacy on the ball more along Kirk's lines.
I'll take Price... he had a pretty solid college and pro career. At first I thought... "no way, Conner is better than that" but that's just my inner homer talking.... after I thought about it I realized that a lot of really highly touted guards never came close to the career Mark Price had.
Live to love, love to live
I'm not saying I wouldn't take Price. I'm just saying I don't recall Mark Price being nearly as athletic as Conner is. Conner's not a freak athlete, but he's sneaky athletic, if that makes any sense. I just don't remember Price that much.
I think Frankcamp is a shoot first guard more than having a distributers mentality. Maybe a lot like Tharpe. It's something he can learn with a lot of coaching, but that's working against his biggest assets. It would be better to have a natural point guard and leave Conner to do what Conner does best. It is nice to know we have a combo guard who can handle the ball if he needs to.
As far as comparisons I'm thinking more of an Alen Iverson who is a better shooter and maybe less of a scorer, similar in size.

Price was one of the best point guards of his time. I think that's what blows that comparison out of the water. Conner is not a natural point guard.
