I flipped on Dan Patrick during the drive to work this morning and only heard part of the story, but I've seen references to it on Twitter since then. Apparently Tommy Tuberville was at dinner with a bunch of recruits on his last day at Tech. One asks how long he'll be at Tech. He dodges the question, talks about the past, excuses himself to go to the men's room, and leaves out the back door to take the Cincinatti gig.

I've heard some nutty recruiting stories and coaching stories, but this one might take the cake. I'm really not sure how you can get worse than this (though I'm sure someone will try).
How does Cincinnati react? This has to make recruiting more difficult. He can only spin it as feeling it would be unethical to communucate with the recruits once the decision was made.
I can see how this happens. A bunch of other assistant coaches are there. Tubberville has to show up in order not to undercut their recruiting efforts. Recruit starts peppering him w questions. He doesn't want to lie, doesn't want to undercut assistant coaches recruiting efforts, so he bails.
Kinda like Southwest Airlines wanna get away
He was on Dan Patrick this morning and claimed a big misunderstanding. He didn't come across very well. He insisted that he didn't even talk to Cincinatti until the next morning (and accepted the job that evening) and that he never stays at those dinners until the end -- they're about the hosts. He was there, talked to folks, then excused himself to leave.
Interesting. Who knows. Quite the story, though.
I'm not gonna lie - I laughed at this. Sounds like a SWA commercial!
