Interesting article though I think the methodology is flawed. There has to be an assumption that a certain amount of winning should be done by each program along the lines of a replacement player, a wins above replacement value so to speak.
In that vein Self would do better. If we really wanted to do this right we would figure out what a theoretically average coach achieves. I think the best way to look at it is conference wins. I would look at it like this where the baseline is 8 wins and you get credit for any wins (conference and tourney) over 8 and get negative credit for winning less than 8 games. We can figure out what each coach earned as far as winning based on the total pool of money spent in the conference.
