Every year they say it will get better. Every year it does not. So sick of how poor refs are at calling the block/charge/no call correctly. There should be very few charges ever called in a game in my view unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Seriously. Especially in halfcourt offense. Nothing worse for the game.
Someone had an amusing line on Twitter last night that Coach K should be punished every time someone flops. The NBA hopefully has it right in starting to give 1 warning then escalating fines based on post-game review of potential flops even where the officials during the game miss them. The NCAA obviously can't fine players, but could they suspend? I know conferences can.

How many charges did they call last night? 6 on us wasn't it? and a couple on them. Every time someone drove they got called for a charge
Live to love, love to live
More garbage calls in the KSU-Deleware game tonight which is no shock with Spradling on the floor. I would like to watch that guy play street ball just to see how badly he would get the piss beaten out of him.
I thought flopping was supposed to be a point of emphasis this year. What happened to that? I would have basically rendered Spradling useless because he's beyond slow defensively.

I think it comes down to being more fun for the refs to hop a few times and pump a fist for a charge. It seems like when it is in doubt they call a charge and it should be the other way in my view.
I agree. Even my dad, whose teams made a living on taking charges, couldn't believe all the charge calls while watching ball with him over Thanksgiving.
See the offensive foul on C.J. Leslie last night when they were down 5 with less than a minute? Convinced refs get an ego rush every time they take the ball out of the offensive team's hands.
I really thought the no charge circle would help but it has honestly made things worse. They seem to call most contact out of that circle a charge anymore. If they are going to have the circle in needs to come about halfway to the free throw line in my view. I love rotational help on defense but I want it to be a Withey challenging someone at the rim, not a guard flinging his corpse in front of someone who beat their man clean and is elevating for a layup.
First, let me say that that sounds like a FUN living room to watch basketball and chat hoops in!
Second, to add to the discussion, I just can't believe how much fun it sucks out of the game. It's bad enough when it's a guard rotating over and flopping under an air-born player, but the post guys flopping on legit post moves like the call against Leslie was horrible.
More of this abomination tonight. Ugh.
