Embiid selected per his Twitter.

Nike brass asked me what I thought of Joel Embiid for the Jordan Game and I said no brainer. He agreed. Felt Embiid would be in NBA after two years of college.
This gives me some hope for next year's front court if Randle goes elsewhere. Thought Embiid was a bit more raw than that, but good to read.
Anyone know which of our other recruits got selected?
I haven't seen an official list yet. I think it's just starting to leak.
No official lists as yet (Jordan Brand "announces" in February officially), but Wiggins and Randle are on the roster as well as Embiid. Haven't heard anything about Selden yet.
Has this game surpassed the McDonald's AA game as the elite All Star event?
I would argue no. A slightly revised question is whether it should be. Part of that would look at selection process. It can't be worse than McD's as long as they don't favor kids who where the shoes. That's a big question I haven't looked into though.
Jordan Brand is typically only going to invite certain kids, regardless of ranking. Guys like Chris Walker, Kasey Hill, Brannen Greene, and Conner Frankamp - all from notable Adidas or Under Armour teams - will likely not be invited.
Maybe they're starting to change, but that's the way it has been in the past.
Yep, Jordan Brand (and most of the other all star events) focus on shoe affiliation, while McD's focuses more on which school / coach the kids have committed to.
That's what I figured. It's obviously the case, but in those kids' favor, with the Derby classic.
If there's going to be an all star game surpass McD's, it will be really difficult due to name recognition and history. If one does, it will need to be thanks to a strong selection committee and a lack of shoe bias.
Selden will join Embiid in the game.
Jordan Brand Classic
It will be interesting to see if Greene and Frankamp make Derby, then which of the four makes McD's. Unfortunately, I don't see Mason as really in the running.
I don't know about all of the events, but McDonald's doesn't allow prep players like Mason anyway, so whether he's highly rated enough doesn't really matter - he's post grad.
But, to be clear, there wasnt a chance in hell Mason would have made the game under any circumstances.
Oh, that's for sure. I wasn't clear on that...
Of course, by my count, Adams, White, Tharpe, Johnson, and McLemore combined for...well..ONE such all-star game appearance, and it was White in the "Capital Classic All Star Game." Now, McLemore has an asterisk, and I could have sworn Johnson made at least one, but I couldn't find one when I searched tonight.
The point is that our only McD's AA on the roster is Perry Ellis, and we're all hoping and praying that he's not starting next year because we recruit over him.
I'm almost sure that Johnson made some sort of Adidas all star game. It's the one where he did the 360 between the legs dunk.
That's what I remembered as well, but I couldn't find it anywhere last night. I found the video this morning, so he did play in at least one game.
Best dunk ever put down on a solo break in high school? Here is 6'2 Elijah Johnson pulling out all the stops at the Derby Classic in 2009.
