Just curious if you have any info about Kansas' involvement with the 2014 PG. He plays summer ball with Conner Frankamp, so KU should have a pretty good head start it would seem.
How do you feel about him as a prospect?
Collier is a high major pg prospect. Shoots well and has game. Needs to get much more physical.
I need to look into his recruitment.
The latest news to come out on Collier is offers from Arizona, Colorado, Gonzaga, Iowa, Kansas State, Missouri and UCLA.
Just interest from Kansas.
Self likes his point guards a little more physical than Collier.
Makes sense, given that Collier is likely down the pecking order from Tyus Jones, Emmanuel Mudiay, etc.
I also wonder where he would fit in with a probably four-year guy like Mason already in the fold. And in 2014, we will likely have Selden and Frankamp ahead of him as ballhandlers as well. Just not sure where he fits in without being on the level of a guys like Jones and Mudiay.
I'm pretty sure Collier is on another level from a guy like Mason. Collier, the one time I got to see him, reminded me a little of Marcus Paige.
With Collier playing for KC Run GMC, it's possible he holds out for a while looking for a KU offer. Who knows? Regardless, if the KU staff decides they want him, they'll be in good position to make it happen.
I guess I didn't mean so much that Mason is better but that Mason is more of the physical type that we typically see Self after. Collier is a better player, but I'm not sure how much time we invest with another guard other than Jones / Muiday with the plethora of options we already have coming in, and to me that includes Mason because of the style of player that he is, and that he's already onboard.
Jerry, where do you see Mudiay's recruitment right now?
I've actually heard a few things in the last 24 hours that make me think my post was wrong. Mason might just be a better player.
I hear Kentucky and then Baylor.
