247Sports basketball recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer contributed to one of the first 247Sports / CBSSports.com combination piece here. Big changes to the recruiting landscape!
"When a recruit committed to Seton Hall or Providence or Villanova in the past, one of the main things we heard was: 'It's a chance to play in the Big East.'
"After all, the Big East was arguably the best conference in the country on a yearly basis, and playing in the league would give you a chance to appear on the biggest stage throughout the season. How could a player pass up that opportunity?
"With news breaking Thursday that the Big East's seven non-football-playing members will separate from the football-playing members, that's no longer the case. DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova will form their own conference, whether it is called the Big East or something else."
Throughout conference realignment, not a ton of changes have drastically impacted the recruiting landscape -- until now.
UConn fans must be bumming.

No doubt. Memphis can't be happy. Temple and Cincinnati and some others as well.
