About as good of a night as one could expect

  • With regards to both the game and recruiting visits. Wonder when word will start to leak out about Randle making some decisions. If he heads off to UT at this point than I don't really know what to say. Barnes has to be pretty much done I would think.

  • Barnes would be fired from any school who takes their basketball seriously at all. It's not Texas hasn't been good over the past few years. It's not like they haven't had some of the best players in the country... It just seems like Texas doesn't seem to mind. The past few seasons Barnes hasn't even made a somewhat decent showing and this year he is absolutely abysmal.
I predict he stays right where he is.

  • I can't imagine that Barnes is close to done. Does he need to improve? Sure, but our standards are slightly higher than Texas's, and really anyone outside of a small handful. He's made 14 straight NCAA Tournaments, the third longest active streak. They've been slipping a little since the pipelines they were exploiting have dried up a bit, but enough to get fired? Meh

I generally agree with this. By Kansas standards, yes he would be fired. But by most other programs standards he would deserve at least one more season. This will be his first season missing the NCAA tournament at Texas and he's only 2 seasons removed from knocking off KU at Allen Fieldhouse and having the #1 ranking in the country for a few weeks.

  • Barnes has to do more than one bad season. Mack Brown has done worse the past few years, and Texas standards for football are signficantly higher. Also, if Kabongo sticks around another year and Randle decides to stay close to home Barnes could have a very nice team next season (although I don't see either happening).

And they'd have a bigger turnout in Houston if they announced a spring football practice, without pads, four hours before the start than they did in Houston for the basketball game against UCLA.
