Kansas picked up an instant impact player as four-star defensive tackle Marquel Combs of Pierce (Cal.) College committed to the Jayhawks over Kansas State, Washington State and Houston.

Combs posted "Rock Chalk" on several of his social media accounts to confirm the pledge.
Combs is originally from Memphis and made his official visit to Kansas on Sept. 15.
Combs was committed to Ole Miss until Sept. 5, when an academic issue specific to Southeastern Conference programs forced him to look elsewhere.
He is scheduled to enroll early at KU.
Combs is the nation's No. 3 overall junior college prospect according to 247Sports and is rated a 96, which equates to four stars. According to the recruiting industry-generated 247Composite, he is the No. 5 overall JUCO and also rates four stars.
The Jayhawks now have the nation's No. 51 overall recruiting class, according to 247Sports.
