City College of San Francisco defensive end Chris Martin committed to Kansas coach Charlie Weis during his official visit to the Jayhawks campus this weekend.
A huge get for Kansas, as Martin is ranked as the nation's No. 1 strong-side defensive end and No. 15 JUCO prospect overall according to the 247Composite.
"His relationship with Charlie," Cheryl Martin, Chris's mother said.
"Chris has always known all along. He likes the strength and conditioning coach. I think they're together."
Besides Kansas, the 6-foot-6, 265-pound Martin also held scholarships from Kansas State, Nebraska, Washington State and Syracuse.
A U.S. Army All-American coming out of high school, Martin signed with California before transferring to Florida. He originally committed to Notre Dame while Weis was coaching in South Bend.
