The No. 3 ranked player in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings Cliff Alexander announced today that he has decided to attend the University of Kansas. Alexander, who has displayed dominant performance after dominant performance on the court over the last year, chose Kansas over Illinois and DePaul.
"I feel that they (Kansas) will help develop and expand my game and help me get to the next level," Alexander said.
Asked why he decided against in-state Illinois, Alexander added, "I did what's best for me and my family."
The Alexander recruitment has been a wild one for the last few months. At one time Michigan State was considered the leader before Kansas jumped out in front.
Over the past few weeks it appeared as if local schools, Illinois and DePaul, had done enough to keep Cliff closer to home. In the end, however, the opportunity to play at the most tradition-rich basketball program in America was just too much to turn down.
247Sports Director of Basketball Scouting, Jerry Meyer, breaks down Alexander's game for TheShiver.com.
"Alexander is one of those physically imposing and intimidating big men that no one really wants to play against," said Meyer of Alexander. "He plays with an attacking edge and a strong motor. Long and athletic, he can dominate around the rim as a defender, rebounder and scorer. His best move in the post is his right hand jump hook, he is good in the pick and role game and he runs the floor extremely well. He will be lethal in the Kansas up-tempo high-low system," added Meyer.
